One of the biggest mistakes when learning Czech. Are you making it too?

I see this all the time.
Expats in the Czech Republic want to learn Czech, but they have no system.
They jump between textbooks, podcasts, courses, homework…and instead of actually learning Czech, they spend most of their energy deciding what to do next.
They don’t move forward. And they get frustrated.
One of the first things I do with my clients is help them set up a simple, daily routine they can follow between lessons, so Czech doesn’t exist only once a week.
This routine is always based on a real-life goal, for example:
“𝐼 𝑤𝑎𝑛𝑡 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑎𝑣𝑒 𝑑𝑒𝑒𝑝𝑒𝑟 𝑐𝑜𝑛𝑣𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑠 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑚𝑦 𝐶𝑧𝑒𝑐ℎ 𝑛𝑒𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑟𝑠, 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑗𝑢𝑠𝑡 𝑠𝑚𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑡𝑎𝑙𝑘.”
There’s no one-size-fits-all system.
Some of my clients love paper flashcards, others prefer using flashcard apps like ANKI together with ChatGPT.
What matters is having:
🟡 a clear, relevant goal, related to your real life
🟡 a simple routine (based on your goal) you can actually stick to
When you have that, you stop feeling lost.
You know what to do and also WHY you’re doing it.
So… do you already have your own simple and sustainable Czech routine?
