Cool Czech Sessions

Learn Czech with Eliška. Fun, professional, personal.

What can I expect from the session?

You can expect a professional, yet very friendly, informal and encouraging environment. I’ll tailor the sessions to your needs (cliché alert!) and apply coaching principles (I am a certified Neurolanguage Coach®) while doing so. We’ll work as a team to define the right content of the sessions. As a result, I usually won't tell you what to do but rather help you understand what's best for you to do. Sounds like a small thing but believe me, it makes a huge difference.

What is your approach?

There are 2 key parts to every cool session - Strategic and Practical. Both in Czech but we can occasionally switch languages if needed!

Strategy; to boost your progress, it's important to be systematic and have your own and enjoyable learning system. We'll work together to define specific and achievable goals of yours. I'll then help you find actions to achieve them, track progress, support you when needed and reflect back on what has worked well and what not so much. On top of it, we'll keep perfecting the way we work together by constant feedback sharing - especially if something I do does not work for you, make sure to tell me!

Practice; This part will be very individual and will largely depend on your goals. Usually, we'll focus on areas where you're struggling, speak, speak, speak, focus on pronunciation, speak, speak, speak, cover grammar, spea... well, you know the drill. The key is to feel comfortable, to use relevant and practical situations when e.g. learning grammar concepts and to have fun.

To help you with your studying outside of our sessions, I tend to take plenty of notes that I share with you.

What do I get for the price?

You'll get the most important tools when learning a language: motivation, momentum and accountability. No one can learn a new language by simply attending a few lessons a week. That's why I take a more holistic approach.

Apart from the obvious—the session—I also spend considerable time with my clients outside of our sessions. Learning a language requires lots of self study. To help you with that, I keep in touch. Depending on what you need, I can clarify grammar, give feedback on your assignment, record and share how to pronounce complicated words, ...  you name it. The important thing is that you don't get stuck and keep progressing!

I tend not to use textbooks with more advanced learners (A2 and above) and so I prepare bespoke materials to make your learning experience as personal as possible. This takes time but the results are worth it!

How long do the sessions take?

I currently offer 1 hour long sessions.

How often should I book?

Up to your preferred learning style.

If you book your sessions more frequently (say, weekly), we’d spend relatively more time practicing to speed up your learning progress.

If you feel comfortable studying on your own, you can also book your sessions less frequently (say, monthly). In that case we’d spend relatively more time with the Strategic part and I’d help you mainly through language consultation.

To give you an example of how such language consultation could work: in a session, we'll come up with your own study plan - goals, actions and timeframe (say, a month). You'll then study on your own (I can help you with some tips on how to study by yourself) and meet me after the agreed time period (a month in this example). In this following session we'll focus on your problematic areas, review the goals and achievements and make a new plan for the upcoming time period.

Is my mother language relevant?

Kind of. I speak English, German and Spanish and so I specialize in clients whose mother language is one of those or is from the same language family (like Italian, Portuguese, French, Swedish, Dutch, Norwegian, ...). The benefit for my clients is that we can get to the root of your mistakes more quickly and I can explain more difficult concepts by showing how they work in your language.

Where do the sessions take place?

Exclusively online. You will receive a Zoom link once you’ve booked the session.

What is the booking policy?

Bookings close 1 day before the session starts.

You may cancel or reschedule your session in your personal account (just make sure you're signed in when booking the session) to your discretion. This may be done at any point up to 24 hours before the session starts. This is to give me enough space to fill up free slots with other clients. In case of a cancellation, please notify me by email so that I can issue a refund. Changes less than 24 hours before the session starts are not possible. No-shows will be charged the full price of the session. Thank you for your understanding!
